Woman admits starting north Spokane Home Depot fire
(www.spokesman.com)Kennie A. Calvert, 59, was arrested in an unrelated incident Sunday at the Spokane Valley Home Depot for suspicion of shoplifting. She told police she started the fire as a distraction so she could steal a six-pack of paper towels, a bag of Miracle-Gro, a roll of black wire and a potted plant, according to a search warrant document filed Wednesday in Spokane County District Court.
The fire happened at the Home Depot I frequent and luckily I haven't needed its services recently. Apparently the roll of wire might be worth $400, but my mind absolutely boggles at the stupidity of this scheme and the risk to value disparity. This woman literally asked for help finding flammables and accidentally dropped the lighter she used to start the fire as she reported it to an employee!
