TDF 2019 - 16m Jump Over the Peloton
(www.youtube.com)🚴🏻 Apparently jumping the peloton in the Tour de France has become a thing. Here's the footage from this year's jump (I thought it had to be fake until I saw all the angles).

⚽ Megan Rapinoe gave an amazing, inspirational, off the cuff speech today in NYC to conclude the USWNT World Cup celebratory ticker tape parade.
National. Treasure.
🎮🎙Found another great retro video game music podcast called Retro Gaming Boombox. Wish it was a little bit more family friendly, but lots of great gaming history discussion and analysis interspersed with the music itself. Looking forward to listening to all 30+ episodes.
📚Originally published in 1993, Game Over: How Nintendo Conquered The World was a fascinating look at the rise of Nintendo as a video game power through the 80s and early 90s1 after the initial industry boom and bust of the early 80s.
I'd kind of forgotten how the Seattle Mariner's were saved from leaving Seattle when Nintendo's CEO at the time, Hiro Yamauchi, agreed to purchase them. The backlash and American xenophobia about potentially having Japanese ownership at the time is completely unfathomable now given that the first 10 years of Nintendo ownership are still peak Mariners baseball. Sadly, I would say that Nintendo ownership of the Mariners stopped being a good thing about 2004 when sub .500 teams became the norm rather than the exception again.
🎮 John Gruber is good friends with the Panic crew so I was wondering how long he's known about Playdate. Turns out Cabal Sasser only told him about it a couple weeks ago. $149 is not cheap, but I think this will be huge for Panic.
🎮 Panic's new Playdate handheld game console looks amazing! It's the perfect Swedish engineered modern evolution of the original GameBoy aesthetic with a beautiful high resolution/high reflection black & white LCD plus an analog crank.
📚 I hadn't heard of Boss Fight Books until the recent Humble Bundle, but love the concept and execution. I'm usually slow to finish nonfiction, but I've already blown through ZZT and Earthbound.
pCloud has some really interesting Easter weekend offers. $24 for a year's worth of 500GB storage is the one that jumps out for me and I'm also impressed with their base feature set compared to Dropbox+.
📚 Finished Wil Haygood's Tigerland (★★★★) last night, and man that's a great, bittersweet book about the intersection of high school sports, racism, the Civil Rights Movement, and a time in U.S. history that I wish my dad was still alive to talk to about.
I was excited to hear today that Spokane has been awarded a $53,000,000 grant to complete the Central City Line, an east-west rapid transit electric bus route running from Browne's edition to SCC. This is going to make traveling from GU to Downtown super convenient.
