Done with the first day's worth of sessions from the virtual conference I'm attending this week. Time to dig into some of the related material for a few hours.
π§ββ So far I'm a big fan of the Ikoria draft format. Sitting at 4-2 in my second draft outing. Probably will try do one more later this week, but I doubt I'll be able to go blue black again so I may need to look into the other color pairs.
πHad a very successful Virtual Bloomsday 12K this morning and finished about a minute and a half faster than I expected with a time of 52:24!
π§ββ Finished 7-1 with my Dimir mutation deck in to win my first draft! The last two games were a little bit anticlimactic actually as both my opponents didn't seem to have very good draws.
π§ββ Just realized I have four copies of Gadwick, the Wizened. Might actually be able to put together a mono blue deck that can win once in a while rather than just fulfilling daily quests requirements.
π§ββ I had two already, but I should really spend a couple wildcards and complete the playset tomorrow.
π§ββ Faced a mono black control deck with my Izzet Prowess deck that was almost entirely creature removal. An obnoxious matchup, but I played it out and got them down to about 10 before conceding. Then I remembered Roil Eruption, the new 2 drop common solution that delivers 3 to any target (5 if kicked!), and updated my deck.
π§ββ Picked up my first loss this morning in the Ikoria Quick Draft after 5 straight wins. Two more chances to pick up at least another win, but I'm going to save those for tomorrow.
π§ββ It's interesting how Magic players respond to new sets and mechanics. Like some people hate the mutation mechanic in Ikoria, but personally I love it. That said, I didn't understand it at all during my first month of playing.
πGot in a short quick 6K run for the first time since Saturday. Great conditions and now I think I'm going to attempt to do my virtual Bloomsday 12K run on Thursday.
