20 years later it's crazy to me that so many people in the early to mid-90s thought a Lincoln Street Bridge over Spokane Falls was a good idea. So glad everyone came to their senses.
🛴 It's been a weird week for Lime scooters in Spokane. They've been downsizing hubs, usage appears down because of the heat/bad air quality, and based on the number of single scooters left out overnight I feel like operations is really dropping the ball.
Air quality in Spokane quite a bit better than up where I live in the Mead area. Between the heat and bad air decided not to even attempt to ride my bike home today.
Just learned that Linux Journal shut down yesterday. I've never subscribed, but read a fair amount of articles and single issues over the years. Sad to see another quality publication succumb to the stark economics of print media in 2019.
The local Patchwork/SSB [scuttlebutt.nz] powered family social network is underway. The software works well, but it's going to be interesting to see how easy it is to get my family up to speed with working with Markdown and the less user friendly aspects of the system.
Nothing like forgetting both your primary and backup headphones to make you appreciate just how crappy these Xfinity promo headphones I dug up at work are.
Looking at experimenting with both Scuttlebutt and Pleroma so finally investigating some of the dynamic dns/port forwarding capabilities of my wireless router. I think I'm more likely to setup Pleroma on a VPN, but hosting an SSB pub locally seems reasonable.
Kind of bummed out that zeppelin.flights [zeppelin.flights] is no more, but that seems to be par for the course with a lot of mastodon instances. Scifi.fyi [scifi.fyi] seems to have been down since April and I didn't even realize.
Intrigued by the idea of using org-mode outside of emacs. Looks like beorg is a nice iOS app and VSCode has at least one plugin as well. The main obstacle is not wanting to sync via DropBox, but iCloud and Google Drive might be viable.
